About

Tom Dunn believes that successful local government is built on heart, integrity, common sense and collaboration. And his heart is firmly planted in Columbia County. Tom’s parents’ families both have deep roots in Columbia County dating back to the 1850s, with the Dunn family being some of the earliest settlers of Portage. He spent many childhood summers both in Portage with his grandmother and at his aunt and uncle’s dairy farm in Caledonia. “The Columbia County Fair was the highlight of my summer, sharing adventures, fun and 4H with my cousins and brothers,” Tom says.

A graduate of the University of Wisconsin – Madison, Tom’s professional career has been spent in communications in the financial services industry, including credit unions, wealth management products, property and casualty insurance and most recently end-of-life expense insurance.  And whether working to pass vital legislation for the survival of the credit union industry, or helping people make the important decisions for their end-of-life planning, Tom understands how to work with the spectrum of experts and interested parties to clearly define issues, develop solution plans and then execute with transparency and clarity. His expertise lies in breaking down the complex and communicating it simply and clearly to the people who need most to understand issues and their implications.

Tom is the father of two grown children, devoted partner of Jane, and adopted dad to Peso and Rosie.
